Dani’s 2017 Round Up

As the year draws to a close and the office starts to wind down for the festive season, we’ve taken a moment to reflect on the past 12 months.

What a year 2017 has been, filled with hundreds of captivating projects, wonderful clients and fantastic freelancers!

Every year we can never predict what jobs might come along, and each day brings something new and exciting! 2017 has been no exception, and has seen our freelancers editing entertainment shows in Ireland from a lovely waterside apartment, creating amazing Motion Graphics for the Science Channel’s CCTV Mysteries and cutting All Star Driving School for E4. We also placed freelancers on long form shows including First Dates, Traffic Cops, Secrets of the Human Body, This Morning and series 2 of My Kitchen Rules. There were many branded content projects too for the likes of Mercedes, EE, Pampers, Garnier, British Red Cross and Nike.

We even had the opportunity to send 6 of our freelancers to sunny Ibiza for an Edit. We definitely weren’t jealous…

A more recent project involved shooting a video for the amazing children’s hospice, Helen & Douglas House. It was well-received with a very happy client and for a great cause!

In May, our Hackney Wick HQ hosted an event designed to help freelancers navigate the ever changing  landscape. Hosted by our wonderful Head of Operations, CJ, the talk delved into the legal and tax complications of operating as a freelancer and I know we all walked away feeling super informed!

Back in June, we exhibited at the 3rd annual Media Production Show based at Olympia. So over two days, the team ventured out of the office to showcase The Crewing Company on our stand beautifully decorated in pink bunting by Bookings Assistant Luke. We met lots of very talented and interesting freelancers and clients and got ourselves up to date with all the latest tech and trends in production at the excellent seminars.

In November, we hosted a rather lively Winter Party for our freelancers at The Driver in Kings Cross. The night included a (fair) few drinks, lots of catching up with our favourite freelancers and the hardest pub quiz ever! We also helped raise some cash for Helen & Douglas House with a hilarious game of Heads or Tails (a game we thoroughly recommend you try after Christmas dinner!) It was a fun filled evening, with a couple of sore heads the next morning!

As the year comes to an end we are proud to have secured over 12,000 days of work for 372 different freelancers and 318 clients. That’s a whopping 33 freelancer years of work!

From me and all the team at TCC we would like to wish you all a Happy Christmas and thank you for your continued support in making 2017 a fun and wonderful year. See you in 2018!
