Building a Workplace Where Women Succeed
Did you know that The Crewing Company’s journey started on a houseboat? Back in 2005, Stephanie Asplin, our Founder & Chairman, set up our very first office on ‘The Quarry’ before we moved to Ealing Broadway, then to the iconic Pinewood Studios, and finally to vibrant Hackney Wick, where we’ve been based since the 2012 London Olympics.
From Booking Assistant to Managing Director
That same year, Laura Davis joined TCC as a Booking Assistant. Fast forward 8 years, and in 2020, she stepped into the role of Managing Director, taking the reins of an already well-established company. But Laura’s impact goes far beyond leadership. She is passionate about shaping the future of the industry—whether it’s through helping to progress freelancers’ careers, finding job opportunities, mentoring freelancers, organising talks, being on the Royal Television Devon & Cornwall committee or speaking at universities and educational faculties. Under her leadership, TCC isn’t just a recruitment agency; it’s a source of community where freelancers and clients feel understood and are able to thrive.
Supporting Working Mums
At TCC, we believe that no one should have to choose between a fulfilling career and being a parent. That’s why we proudly support the working mums in our team, offering flexible hours, remote work options, and training opportunities to develop their incredible skills. We also listen—because who better to shape our policies than the women who live them?
Take Eve, our Operations Manager. She’s been with us since 2007, joining shortly after graduating as our Company PA and quickly progressing to become one of our top Account Managers. After taking time out to raise her young family, we were thrilled to welcome her back. Her in-depth knowledge of TCC, combined with her exceptional organisational skills, makes her an invaluable part of the team.
In 2022 we welcomed Magda, our Marketing Executive, who ensures that TCC’s voice is heard far and wide. With a background in photography and visual arts, she brings creativity and fresh ideas to our campaigns. She also champions team work, often inviting members of the team to work together on marketing campaigns. Balancing her marketing role with motherhood, Magda works part-time while raising her two-year-old daughter—proving that flexibility is key to supporting working parents.
From Film School to Talent Pro
Then there’s Roksana, a Film BA graduate from the University of Westminster, who quickly became a key part of our team. Now a hard working and confident Talent Consultant, she works with an impressive list of clients, including Al Jazeera International, Cancer Research UK, Girl & Bear, Channel 5, ITV Studios, and Discovery Education. She works endlessly to make strong connections for freelancers, and find great matches for her clients. Known for her infectious energy (and her love of Taylor Swift), Roksana keeps our office buzzing!
Supporting Women Isn’t a Policy – It’s Who We Are
At The Crewing Company, we don’t just talk about supporting women—we live it. From leadership opportunities to flexible working policies, we have created an environment where women thrive in their careers, whether they’re building their way up, stepping into leadership, or balancing work with motherhood.
