Your Guide to Pride 2022

This is a significant year for the Pride movement and the LGBTQ+ community, marking the 50th anniversary of the first Pride in the UK. The campaign for 2022 commemorates the past 50 years of the LGBTQ+ communities evolution and acceptance within society. As we celebrate this month, it is necessary to look to the future and recognise the challenges that the LGBTQ+ community faces both nationally and internationally.

To mark this momentous milestone, we have put together a list of inspirational, insightful and intriguing events that you can take part in this Pride Month.

Join with forum+ for a visit to Queer Britain, the UK’s first-ever LGBTQ+ history museum! We are so excited that this vital community space is located in the borough of Camden. The museum in an inclusive and free-entry space that ‘the stories, people and places that are intrinsic to queer community in the UK and beyond’. Pride Month is the perfect time to visit Queer Britain where lgbtq+ history is preserved, explored and celebrated”.

Our group will enter the museum at 2 pm and afterwards we are going to go for coffee at the amazing Redemption Roasters – the perfect place to discuss our visit to Queer Britain.

Mental health has been under the spotlight recently with many emphasising the importance of maintaining good mental health, including in and around work. People in the LGBTQ+ community, however, face an additional barrier to looking after their mental health where it can be seen that issues affecting the community can have a compounding impact on one’s mental health.

Hear from the Natural History Museum, Science Museum and V&A as they discuss finding the queer stories hidden among their collections.

Gaydio Talks will launch in Pride Month with our inaugural event based on Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace. So whether you run a small/medium business and looking to recruit and retain top talent or are part of a larger organisation and looking for new ideas, this event is for you. As a community radio station we want to provide a platform for top leaders in the LGBTQ+ workplace.

The first part of the evening will start off with a drinks reception before an hour seminar on basics of inclusion such as setting up an LGBTQ+ network, recruiting and retaining LGBTQ+ people and developing internal policies in your company. The seminar will include speakers in the top 10 of Stonewall’s Top 100 Employers List.

A Gaydio DJ will bring the second part of the evening to life with free flowing drinks and canapes as well as being able to network with other businesses and discuss ideas.
